Individual Music Lessons

We offer one-on-one music lessons, which helps to ensure students have the full attention of the teacher and are able to learn and develop at a pace customised to the individual.

Lessons last for 30 minutes unless students request for a 60 minute slot.

Our lessons are designed to be fun and engaging because we believe the music learning experience should be an enjoyable one.  Students learn to play their instruments as well as receive a good grounding in music theory.  We introduce our students to different musical genre and give them the opportunity to learn to play music they are personally interested in.

Encore! has a competency assessment framework that teachers will use to assess students.  There are different stages of competency and the pace students progress through these stages depends on their ability to achieve the objectives set for each stage.  This assessment framework helps ensure students continually develop in their music learning, stay engaged and provides them with a sense of accomplishment. Assessments are carried out in an informal, non-threatening manner.

Encore! hold concerts twice a year to give our students the opportunity to hone their performing skills and showcase their talent to friends and family.  All students are encouraged to participate in these events.

Group Lessons

(a) Band Lessons

One great thing about Encore! is that we have students learning a variety of instruments. This is exciting because we can give our students the opportunity to come together and learn to jam as a band! Band classes help students to listen to each other and to work together on songs to create a united, excellent sound. Students then get to show off their newfound skills by performing together in our Encore! concerts. Group sizes are between 3 - 6 students and students are generally grouped according to ability, age and to ensure each instrument is covered. Lessons are 30 minutes per week.  Click here for an overview of the skills and knowledge covered in our band classes.

(b) Music theory lessons

Encore! offers group Music Theory classes whereby students gain an excellent grounding in theory by learning the skills/knowledge covered in the Trinity College Syllabus. They are also given the opportunity to work towards Trinity exams. Group sizes are between 3 - 5 and lessons run for 30 minutes per week. Students are grouped with those at similar ability levels and lessons are targeted at the group's needs. Click here to download the Trinity syllabus. Please let us know if you're interested!

(c) Other group lessons

We are also planning to hold group lessons for singing/recorder/guitar soon so watch this space! You can contact us now to express your interest and we'll make sure we reserve a spot for you.

Students

Encore! welcomes all students regardless of their age or musical background.  The key things you need to be a music student are enthusiasm and a keenness to learn!

There is a minimum age for certain instruments to ensure that the student is physically able to play the instrument (please contact us if you are unsure).  There is no maximum age though - it is never too late to begin in the wonderful journey of learning music!

Our curriculum caters to students from beginner level onwards.  Your teacher will assess your level of competency in your first lesson and discuss with you your musical goals and how we can help you progress to the next stage.
