Wellington Music Teacher for Singing, Piano and Violin - Priya Makwana
Priya has been in orchestras and with Christchurch School of Music throughout her school years playing the violin. She recently graduated from Otago Polytechnic in 2011 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Jewellery and Metalsmithing. Since then she has been performing with a variety of experimental performance and sound art groups in Wellington including S.A.M.P.L.E 2012.
She played the piano from the tender age of 5 learning it in conjunction with singing more seriously in later years taking exams. She continued on with violin, singing and piano throughout her high school years. More recently she has been working on jazz and rock piano as well as classical accompaniment for her vocal pieces.
In 2012, she has performed as a part of Open Call Music Group performing experimental sound art, and has also an interest in gypsy and Scottish violin. She had also participated in the Wellington regional singing competitions 2012 and the Napier Aria competition 2013 as well as being in the Orpheus Choir Wellington.
As of 2014 she is entering the Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice at NZSM and hopes to continue with singing competitions and with Orpheus. She will also be on the reserve list for the Chappman Tripp Opera Chorus and plans to continue exhibiting both paintings and jewellery. She aims to combine her passion for music and art through continued performing.
She is also still working on a one woman act (as yet to be debuted), with a view to performing further in 2014
