RUBY MCKNIGHT SINGING TEACHER
Having grown up with a passion for music, Ruby has been singing and performing her whole life. Currently finalising her Bachelor of Music degree at the New Zealand School of Music, she will then continue on to complete a graduate diploma. Classically trained, Ruby also performs a range of other contemporary styles and uses her experience and versatility to help teach students performance etiquette and technique, and instill a passion for music.
In Ruby's experience as a professional classical singer and performer, she has garnered a huge list of credits having performed in operas with Project Prima Volta and Festival Opera since 2016. She has also worked as a chorus member and performed minor character roles alongside international artists such as Toni-Marie Palmertree, Pene Pati, Moses Mckay, Rebecca Afonwy-Jones, and many more. She was a cast member of Festival Opera’s 2018 production of Madame Butterfly, and played the role of Suor Dolcina (Sister ‘Sweet’) in the 2019 operatic production of Suor Angelica. In 2020 she played the role of Despina (from Così fan Tutte) and Marzelline (from Fidelio) in the production of Opera Scenes. Ruby studied Music Pedagogy during her time at the New Zealand School of Music, learning the ideas and principles of the psychology behind developing brains. She takes into account each student's goals, learning needs and methods to help progress towards success in their repertoire and annual performances. |
