LENNOX GROOTJANS WELLINGTON DRUM AND BAND TEACHER
Lennox began playing drums when he was 11 years old and believes his first drum teacher played a crucial part in fostering his love of music. His teacher (Shaun Malyon - Music Education Centre Auckland) was always supportive, inspiring and open to all styles of music, which meant that Lennox quickly progressed as a musician and always cherished his lessons.
Because of his positive experiences as a student early on, Lennox developed a keen interest in becoming a teacher and began taking on his first students while still in high school. He adopted many of the same teaching principles which helped him learn when he first began his musical journey:
“ They say that behind every great student is an awesome teacher and this holds very true for Lennox and my son, Seth. Ever since we can remember, Seth has loved playing drums and under Lennox’s wings, he’s just bloomed into our amazing little drummer boy. Every year, we see him become more confident in his craft and take more pleasure in drumming to any song. He’s always told me how much he enjoys his lessons with Lennox and is very happy to have found a teacher, a friend and a role model in him. Thank you for being an amazing Teacher, Lennox!! To more lessons! and years of drumming together!!” - Sharmaine Ramos-Ticman |
