Michaela Cadwgan began her musical education at around the age of 6, first with the piano and the violin but after moving from England with her family she discovered her love for singing at age 9. During her training she underwent many ABRSM exams in Singing (ABRSM Grades 1-8), Theory (ABRSM Grade 5), Violin (ABRSM Grades 1-5), Viola (ABRSM Grade 6), and Piano (ABRSM Grades 1-5) and was very involved in music groups through her schooling.
Michaela is very passionate about music and is entering her BMUS(Hons) in 2020 at Victoria University, majoring in Classical Performance Voice, as well as completing her BA in German and Italian. She has taken part in many performances whilst at the New Zealand School of Music, most notably the 2018 Opera scenes production Eat Your Heart Out, where she performed the role of Gretel and the 2019 Puccini Double Bill as the title role of Suor Angelica in Suor Angelica. Last year, Michaela was selected as a Finalist for the Wellington Regional Competition Dame Malvia Major Aria and as a Finalist for NZ Aria where she performed with Maestro Giordano Bellincampi and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. Michaela strives to help her students achieve confidence and a great love for their instrument by creating a fun learning environment where students can build the correct technique and enjoy music fully. |
